Welcome! I am looking forward to an exciting 2012, after a thrilling (and exhausting!) 2011. As General Director of Synchromy, I’ve been so pleased to see that group take off. We’re now in our first subscription season, with guest artists like Conundrum, The Vientos Trio and the Midnight Winds. I’m also very excited by our first collaborative concert, joining forces with The Symbiosis Chamber Orchestra and Music on Argyle to promote the music of my home city of Los Angeles. These concert will present the premiere of my new work for viola, cello and contrabass, “a declarative sentence whose message is that we must try harder”. That program will be performed twice, once in Hollywood, and one in Torrance:
Friday, January 27th – 8:00pm
The Russian Hall

The U.S. Premiere of my oboe and piano piece “…shouting advice from the international dateline, being mistaken for god…” is coming in early 2012. It will also be performed on a Synchromy concert featuring the Vientos Trio on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 8:00 pm. This performance will also be at The Russian Hall in Hollywood.
I am working on several large-scale projects, including an opera that I hope to be able to officially announce in 2012. However, there is always room for more. If you have a new project you’d like to discuss, or if you’re interested in commissioning some of the new works that are on the way, please get in touch with me at jason@jasonbarabba.com. You’d be surprised how easy it is to commission a brand new work!
