“…so anyway, I sez to Mabel, I sez…” takes its title from an early episode of The Simpsons, and has a gossipy, chattering nature. The players are given a very challenging task in this movement in that they are asked to work together as if they were one player to create a complex texture over which each gets a chance to have a soloistic moment. Half way through, the entire opening section returns, but this time it’s backwards.
